Just who is Dr. Shirley McKellar?
Many people have become well acquainted with this powerful and steadfast local politician and NorthWest Tyler leader in the community. She has traveled throughout the country and beyond in service, embodying the spirit of community service. What most don't know is that she has faithfully grown in her faith at the same cornerstone of the Gospel message, North Tenneha Church of Christ. Her mother was her Sunday school teacher and a beloved educator here in Tyler, Texas, while her father was equally a staple, providing roses in the Parade each year. Dr. McKellar married her childhood sweetheart, Danny McKellar, and together they have two wonderfully blessed children, both thriving in their adult lives and impacting their communities. Her grandchildren are also thriving in state college, studying for lifelong passions and training to be at the top of their field. Dr. McKellar leads a very tight-knit family as the matriarch, where her emphasis on education, professionalism, and service is evident in each of her family ties.
